IELTS İpuçları: 5 zor fakat kullanışlı zıt bağlaç

Bugün karşıtsal cümleler için kullanışlı bağlaçlara göz atacağız. ‘Karşıtsal’, ‘tezatlık oluşturmak’ ya da ‘karşılaştırmak’ anlamına gelir. Bu basit örnekler, karşıtsal cümlelerin ne olduğunu göstermektedir: ‘He likes mathematics, but does not like geography’, or ‘She likes mathematics, but he does not’.

Karşıtsal cümleler için 5 kullanışlı bağlaç

1. On the one hand/on the other hand

• Örnek: On the one hand smokers should have the right to smoke if they want to, but on the other hand non-smokers should have the right to breathe smoke-free air.

2. Conversely

• Örnek 1: Conversely, a slump in domestic investment will expand the current account surplus.
• Örnek 2: If you love and encourage your children, they will develop good self-esteem. Conversely, if you are harsh and critical, they may become angry and insecure.

3. Despite + verb + ing / Despite this / Despite + noun

• Örnek 1: Despite being a more sustainable form of energy than fossil fuels, there are still considerable drawbacks to nuclear power.
• Örnek 2: The market saw a brief period of economic growth. Despite this, the general trend was downwards.
• Örnek 3: Despite a brief period of economic growth, the general trend was downwards.

4. Although

• Örnek: Although much of our garbage contains valuable raw materials, most of it is simply burned or buried.

5. While

• Örnek: While the few may be for war, the many are almost always for peace.
